Yella Beezy Murder Trial: Week Two of Key Testimonies Unfolds Live

The murder trial of rapper Yella Beezy, whose real name is Markies Conway, has entered its second week as he faces charges related to the 2020 killing of rival rapper MO3, also known as Melvin Noble. The proceedings began last week, with the prosecution alleging that Conway orchestrated a murder-for-hire plot to eliminate MO3 amid an ongoing feud.

Prosecutors claim that Conway paid Kewon White to carry out the shooting, which took place in an ambush on Interstate 35 in Dallas. Conway has pleaded not guilty to the charge of capital murder and maintains that he had no involvement in the crime. White has already been convicted of capital murder for his role in Noble’s death, while a third defendant, Devin Brown, is also facing similar charges.

As the trial continues, key testimonies have emerged. On Monday, Karim Ali, the owner of Manhattan Jewelers, took the stand to discuss custom jewelry orders placed by Conway and his associates. Prosecutors presented evidence including diamond-encrusted pendants and invoices totaling approximately $76,000 for custom pieces ordered by Conway. The defense scrutinized this testimony, focusing on surveillance footage that captured cash transactions involving White.

The trial resumed with further testimonies, including that of Theodore Thomas, a childhood friend of Conway, who chose not to testify after invoking his Fifth Amendment rights. The court has scheduled his return for Wednesday. Additionally, Joseph Catania from the Federal Reserve Bank provided insights into tracking serial numbers on cash linked to the case, while Timothy Glenn, the security head at the Mondrian hotel, testified about Conway’s stay during the critical timeframe.

Further evidence was presented by Mount Pleasant Police Department’s Narcotics Sgt. Juan Hernandez, who detailed a significant traffic stop involving Kewon White, revealing a large cache of cash and illegal substances. This evidence, along with White’s recorded jail calls, has been pivotal in the ongoing trial.

Prosecutors previously released video footage showing MO3 being chased and shot at, strengthening their argument that the murder was part of a calculated plan orchestrated by Conway. In September, Kewon White was found guilty of capital murder and sentenced to life in prison, following which jurors reviewed evidence including alleged payments from Conway to White.

The proceedings are expected to continue for several more weeks as the courtroom drama unfolds, with both the prosecution and defense preparing for a thorough examination of the evidence and testimonies presented.
