A man was airlifted to a medical facility after suffering a severe head injury caused by a sledgehammer in Burleson County. Authorities have detained a suspect in connection with the incident.

On Monday, the victim was struck in the head while at a location in Somerville, approximately 40 miles northeast of Giddings. The Burleson County Pct 4 Constable’s Office shared footage on social media showing the helicopter transporting the man from the scene.

The victim sustained serious injuries, but details regarding his current health status remain unclear. The constable’s office was assisting the Somerville Police during an aggravated assault investigation on Avenue C at the time of the incident.
