A high-speed collision involving multiple vehicles in Plano resulted in the hospitalization of a pedestrian and two drivers on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred when an SUV crossed a median and collided with traffic at a busy intersection, according to local police.
Emergency services were dispatched to the scene at the intersection of East Parker Road and Avenue K shortly after 3:15 p.m. Upon arrival, officials from the Plano Police Department and Plano Fire-Rescue found a chaotic scene involving seven damaged vehicles.
Initial investigations indicated that a silver Ford Explorer was speeding eastbound on East Parker Road when it crossed into the westbound lanes. The SUV struck a pedestrian who was standing in the median, propelling the individual into the side of another vehicle. The Explorer continued its reckless path, crashing into five additional vehicles that were halted at a red light.
In total, seven vehicles were involved in the chain reaction that unfolded during the crash. Emergency responders transported the driver of the Ford Explorer, the injured pedestrian, and one additional motorist to a nearby hospital for treatment. The conditions of those hospitalized have not yet been disclosed, and no further injuries were reported at the scene.
The Plano Police Traffic Unit is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
